Chevy Court Addition Plus More Regional Musical Talent
Aug 17th, 2008

The New York State Fair will showcase more regional music talent than ever before
this summer with a several new performance venues and a full day of Chevy Court
entertainment by some of the top bands in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and Binghamton.

In addition to The Homegrown Talent Showcase on Aug. 31, the Fair will feature a series
of Central New York acoustic performers on Chevy Court’s Stan Colella Stage during the break
between the 4 and 8 p.m. shows. The series, called “Upstate Unplugged”, will feature music
ranging from folk and country to jazz and swing on every afternoon of the Fair except the day
of the Homegrown showcase.

Also on Chevy Court will be two nights of music by Target, a pop music band with
Upstate New York roots that has a huge regional following. Target will play the
4 p.m. show on Aug. 30 before Extreme’s 8 p.m. performance, as well as the 4 p.m. show on
Sept. 1 before Flyleaf’s 8 p.m. show.

Other musical firsts for this summer include:

The “Emerging Artists Showcase” on the youth stage at the Price Chopper
Youth Activity Center, sponsored by SubCat Studios and Aux Records. Young, high-energy
bands from around the state will take the stage on selected evenings after the
Little Caesars Talent Showcase.

The “Beef Barn Jamboree” sponsored by the Cortland Country Music Hall Park and
New York Country Music Hall of Fame in the Fair’s Beef Cattle Building. Three local
country-western bands will play among the hay bales and livestock on Aug. 22, 26 and 29.
The Hall of Fame will exhibit a selection of its historic country music artifacts on those days.

The Fair will also expand its “Gospel Sunday” event into a full
“Gospel Weekend”, Aug. 23-24.

“New York State is filled with an incredible variety of talented musicians, and we want
to give fairgoers every opportunity to hear them," State Fair Director Dan O’Hara said.
“This is going to be a great year for music lovers."
